As a Personnel Assistant I at Crossroads Talent Solutions, your role is to efficiently manage and maintain personnel data files and process various personnel transactions. This includes handling tasks such as employment applications, employment verification requests, new hires, terminations, leaves, and salary changes. You will be responsible for receiving forms and documents, ensuring their completeness, and inputting the necessary information into our computerized recording and processing system. Effective communication with staff, employees, and applicants will be essential to verify information, address inquiries, conduct data research, and resolve any issues. You will utilize typewriters, computer terminals, and other office equipment to fulfill your duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Take direction from high level supervisors.

-Exercises discretion with information at all times

-Review transaction documents for completeness and accurately input data into the computer.

-Update data files with new information and process requests for changes and other actions.

-Maintain information in personnel files and retrieve data when requested.

-Conduct fingerprinting for new employees.

-Keep logs, files, and records related to ongoing personnel processes, such as orientation, training, performance evaluations, turn-over.

-Compile and maintain statistics on personnel transactions.

-Verify employment history, positions held, and salary details.

-Follow up with employees and operating staff to ensure proper submission of required forms and actions.

-Address phone inquiries from applicants, employees, and administrators regarding personnel transactions. Explain the status of actions and procedures and contact individuals to obtain necessary information and resolve discrepancies.

-Conduct research in files to retrieve information as required.

-Perform any related tasks as necessary to support the department's operations.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Proficiency in business English and spelling.

-Familiarity with modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

-Capability to perform various standard office clerical tasks efficiently.

-Aptitude for maintaining complex records and preparing reports from them.

-Ability to make sound decisions based on experience, judgment, and departmental policies and regulations.

-Proficiency in operating word processing equipment, and some positions may require efficient typewriting skills.

-Strong oral and written communication skills and effective human relations skills.

-Commitment to maintaining data and records with confidentiality.

-Knowledge of and ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education, Training, and Experience:

-High School diploma or GED is required.

-Six months of experience in progressively responsible office, general clerical, or typing work.

-Consideration may be given to other combinations of relevant education, training, and experience that equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in this position.
